Wow....I am pleasantly surprised. I played around with the graphics settings. Upscaled. Anti-aliasing. Sharpening. Etc etc...and look at this screen cap from Final Fantasy 10. And yes I do have an actual PS2, and I do have the actual disc for FF10. I'm just incredibly surprised at how much nicer and smoother it is when emulated using todays hardware.

Yep pretty good eh? You can also use Wii emulators to upscale those games to much higher definition quality on the PC than the console will ever spit out :)

Have you tried them? Last time I tried dolphin I was able to get Metroid prime to run at <1fps. Im surprised the PS2 one works tbh.

The PS2 one runs so incredibly fast. Was running at 60fps. Removed the framerate limiter. And the FPS went into the hundreds. And this is with all eye candy features enabled, including 16x MSAA, upscaled to 2560x1440 (well...with the widescreen hack)

Hmm. The PS2 and GameCube emulators have been able to run games at full speed for years. Nowadays they support 90% of the titles. You may have to tweak some settings.

May have to get the emulator since there is no way to plug in my PS2 now. I still have Devil May Cry and Ratchet and Clank

Personally I'm blown away by it. I can't wait to try the PSX emulator now. I wonder if Cool Boarders 3 is as awesome as I remembered it back in the day. :P Or if FF7/8/9 look any better now with anti-aliasing and all the other goodies.

Is there any decent n64 emulators? I tried to play banjo kahzooee on one and its wasn't very good, kept skipping.

N64 emulators have been around for a while now. I remember around 10 years ago I had a working one installed on my Xbox. And I think I had one working on my psp. I tried it on the iPhone back during the 3GS days, and it was a little slow depending on the game. But today's tech in general should be more than enough to emulate these things properly.

Yes indeed, Zelda Skyward Sword worked great for me on Dolphin in 1080p resolution. Never tried at 1440p however 1080p was already orders of magnitude superior to the 480p jagginess I experience when playing on the console.

The real bitch with Wii emulation is finding bluetooth dongles and software with which the Wii remote will cooperate. Beyond that it's awesome

Oh and Dolphin does GameCube games too (but not N64)

A 7$ generic bluetooth receiver did the job for me.

Score one for the Maximus V Extreme with built in bluetooth?

There are actually un-dubbed versions of several popular jRPGs out there (Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, Xenosaga, etc).
I can't recommend them enough, as Japanese Voice Overs feel vastly superior in most cases.

Me too but I had to research it as there were plenty of lists on the web of dongles that do not work.
I hunted down an MSI one and it works, however I had to get it from the Amazon.de marketplace from a dude who doesn't ship outside of Germany. All for a dongle.

The good news is that the Wii 'sensor bar' is a load of crap. All you need are a couple of tealight candles siting on your monitor stand. Romantic :)

Hmm, maybe I should give this a try. I still actually pull the PS2 out from time to time to get my guitar hero 2 and 3 on

Yea, project 64 works perfectly for 99% of games. Id give that one a try.

The custom resolution under the plug-in settings is the internal rendering resolution, set this to 5120x2880 or higher if your system can handle it. Makes things even crispier.
