Hey guys, I was looking to upgrade my sis's PC since I stole her old 4850 and sold it with an old rig I had. :p

My choices would be;

MSI Reference 4890 @ $70

Gigabyte GTS 450 @ $80

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125341&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4003003&SID=1xfw76r2ryq9h

MSI GTX 280 @ $80

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127360&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4003003&SID=15tn7wpqfynop

PowerColor 5770 @ $80

http://www.powercolor.com/global/products_features.asp?id=233

Now atm I'm leaning on the 4890 for price and overall bang for buck, the 280 would be the best (barring OC) out of the four but it would also be the loudest and hottest, the 5770/450 are great performers with newer tech that will run cooler and quieter but give up performance for said features.Idk, again I'm still liking the 4890 for that price and with the potential to OC past 1Ghz those things are pretty beastly still (relatively).

Her system is pretty decent: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/3522129 but her x223 maxes out at 1650x1050 so all four of these cards are really more than enough for her to play most games. She would only care to play Dead Space 1/2 and the Portals but nothing really else except for random flash games. Now I asked her about preference on noise vs performance and she said she didn't care in the slightest, so what would you guys choose? One of these four or maybe even wait for a couple of weeks and hope a nicer deal crops up? Anyways I'm off to bed, I'll check in when I'm up and thanks in advance.

TBH If I were you I'd be looking at craigslist or similar for local people selling these things second hand. They should be quite reasonably priced and you dodge shipping costs that way. Or put a "WTB" post up on Hardocp/Anandtech/OCN/Whatever forum you frequent looking for best card for $75 and under shipped (or local pickup). Buying a card that old new seems like a losing proposition to me... but whatever floats your boat haha. I have an old 4970X2 that I need to sell but its worth more than $80 T_T

Lol those are all used prices Sno's, most of those would still be well over $100+ new. And also you didn't answer the question :p

Okay sorry. I don't know much about old GFX cards. I bought my 4870X2 for $600+ back in the day when it first came out, then forgot about hardware stuff. Until now when I just built my sig rig about a month ago :)
