I am looking at buying one of the 1440p Korean monitors.

I just do not see any information if my ATI / MSI 6850 cyclone card will be able to handle the higher res.

For gaming, probably not very well. My 6970 did awesome at 1080p for a 60hz monitor. But once I switched to 1440p mass effect 3 dropped to the 40-80 FPS range when maxed out. Which...doesn't help when you're running a 120hz monitor. 1440p is approximately 80% more pixels and therefore 80% more work your card needs to do. And that's assuming higher VRAM usage due to larger textures doesn't come into play.

If you play older games or mmo's and rts's you'll be able to get by. But realistically a new card purchase should be on your list.

I do not do a lot of twitch gaming (a MMO or two from time to time), more running multiple VM's and a little photo editing/web surfing.

For twitch gaming you'll probably want a better video card. Otherwise you won't necessarily benefit from having a 120hz monitor if you can only get 60 fps out of it.
