Just scrolling the news today, as I do every day. I come across these, back to back.

and right above that:

1080p 27"monitors. Way to go AOC and Philips. Though to be fair, they are new designs of the VA display, which is a tried combination of IPS looks and TN speed, I'm not sure if its there yet.

But still, that resolution at that size screen. Koreans are still ahead, even if it was an accidental 120Hz...

This creeps me out: "The 271P4QPJKEB/00 also comes with a 'people sensor' (that lowers brightness when the user is not in front of the display)"

Did you see those monitors that were being marketed as 1 or 2mm bezels? "Hey, they didn't show that giant black border around the screen in the pictures!" :p

Yeah. A technology to save a few watts at best. What happens when someone watches a movie and goes to their bed? Or you stay still for awhile? Creepy and useless.

I did see those, pretty dumb indeed. Or the ones (might have been the same, actually) where they talked about the bezel's "Z" distance from the screen. Cool I suppose..

No one wants to step up and be usefully different. As far as I can tell.
